Good Morning! I hope y’all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We sure did! We have so much to be thankful for!
We had such a good time just spending time with each other. We had such a great time enjoying great meals, playing fun games and even a little shopping. My family lives about 18 hours away and my husband’s family lives about 20 hours away. It’s so hard being away from family around the holidays but we try to focus on who is here and make the most of it. My husband always has to work Thanksgiving Day so we usually plan to do our meal on Friday and plan every second of it and make the most of it! We love putting our tree up that Friday evening, we have a family tradition of picking out that perfect real tree. There’s just something about that geniue smell of a real Christmas tree. That is just what we do, I know everyone is different and how boring would that be if we weren’t. That is why God made us all different and unique in our on ways. I love our own family traditions and I’m sure you do as well. I love the joy it brings, the togetherness it brings, the smiles, the laughter! We truly love this time of year! Let me sure of few of our ideas that we did over the Thanksgiving holidays and please sure some of yours. I hope you enjoy!
On Wednesday-
We shopped around for all the good ideas and holiday deals, (we have to with a big family). We found some new ideas to do with the children and found some great deals that was on their Christmas list. I use to go a little over board on the gifts but this year I’m stealing a friend’s tradition and doing something different. It’s a great idea and I love it. My children will be getting 5 gifts for Christmas, 1. something they need, 2. something they want, 3. something to read, 4. something to wear and 5. a big gift that is the most expensive, plus what they get in their stockings. This is a great idea and I want to concentrate on making more memories! I want to make Christmas memories, for instance like ice skating on the lake, the Christmas play, the Christmas parade, drinking hot chocolate around a fire and so forth. I want to spend money on those activities with the children and make memories that will last a life time. Life is short, and time flies.
Thursday-
Thursday morning we had homemade French toast, made by Hailee. They were amazing! We had planned to make homemade cinnamon rolls from @Sarahjoyblog, but we forgot one important ingredient. We will definitely have everything we need for Christmas morning to make them. They look amazing! I also did a little online shopping. I use Ebates and got back cash back. I love using a company to make money by just doing what I was doing anyway. They have a $10 bonus today and up to 10 percent cash back at like stores Walmart and Amazon and many more. Theres’s so many great deals today, go sign up and check them out. make sure to mention I sent you! https://go.ebat.es/limsk .Thursday after our amazing breakfast, we prepared for our Thanksgiving meal for Friday. We made all the desserts, sides and prepped the turkey and ham for that night. Sam prepared the cookie pudding and cheesecake and may I say, she did such a great job! She was so excited to join in and help. Children live and learn, monkey see, monkey do! Be the example your child(ren) need, stay positive and get off your phone when they are around! I know sometimes we have to but there’s so many times that we don’t!!I know I’m guilty of this and I’m working really hard on it! They are only little once. Sorry, I just had to throw that in there. Thursday night my husband and I had a date night. He worked 13 hours so he definitely needed it! We had a great time and was able to snag a few gifts for the children.
Friday-
We all slept in and awoke to the wonderful smell of turkey. We got dressed and finished prepping the Thanksgiving meal. We ate at noon and it was delicious. We had a great meal and made plenty for left overs. We danced, made Christmas crafts (we picked some inexpensive ones up at our local king soopers), homemade sand, watched Christmas movies and made so many memories. Later that evening we went to pick out our Christmas tree. We had so much fun decorating the tree. We danced again, sung songs and had such a great time!
Saturday-
We had a big breakfast. We always try to have a big breakfast every Saturday. After lunch we took the children to an inside swimming pool. w loved watching the snow fall is the children were swimming. If your community has an indoor pool, it’s a very inexpesive way to make memories and the children love it! Saturday evening we watched Christmas movies, had hot chocolate, danced again to music and played board games! We had such a great time and made so many memories. It was indeed a wonderful time! Enjoy the little things! I usually can be pretty picky about the Christmas tree and how it looks but this year I left the ornaments just as they were. They loved decorating that tree! They loved the dancing! They loved those inexpensive crafts! They loved the Christmas movies, the hot chocolate! It’s the simple things! The cheap movies, I try to buy them on black Friday and of course Netflix also has some. We bought Alexa last year and we just simply ask her to play Christmas music and she does until we say stop. The children had a great time and we did too. It’s the little things in life that thrills my soul! And it doesn’t cost a fortune to put a smile on those faces. Enjoy the little things, they become the most precious memories!
